Comings and Goings

Hello, world. :)

I've been struggling along with my own concerns not keeping up with this correspondence with you. I suppose I never intended this to be a thing that could tie me down or make me feel guilty. Truthfully, I am sorry for leaving it and yet at the same time I am comfortable with myself and my very new effort in getting back to it. And that is the gist of today's advice. Give yourself permission to accept your faults and move on. This is necessary in life, that we can endeavor to improve ourselves without sabotaging our own efforts by severely beating ourselves up or wallowing in guilt and an ensuing depression. This is not the same thing as not caring about it when you fail to meet a goal. It is simply learning to accept things as they are so that you can set to work with whatever improvements you intend to make.

And because this is such a short entry and my topic is already sufficiently covered, I have a bonus recommendation for you. Check out the letter written in 1820 at the following URL. It is lovely and it gives good advice too. Once upon a time people did not have the vast pharmacopeia of chemical interventions at their disposal that we have. Nevertheless, some of them had to find ways to cope with depression. This is a work of encouragement between friends and I think we can learn much from it! :)
